Compared with conventional excavation methods, our utility detection and mapping surveys are neither intrusive nor disruptive and provide accurate underground utility information.  We use all available technology to locate buried services and uniquely deploy a mobile office to site in order that our three man survey team can quality check all their results whilst still on site.  Our methodology offers major environmental benefits, substantial savings in time and cost over traditional excavation and significantly reduced exposure to NRSWA related requirements and penalties where relevant.

All projects are implemented to ISO 9001 standards and our surveyors are fully trained in equipment operation, survey techniques, traffic management, health and safety, first aid and NRSWA Traffic Management techniques.  We are also approved under the Achilles Proof Audit scheme to work trackside where the PipeHawk II ground probing radar equipment which is standard to Adien, is the only Network Rail approved GPR equipment for use trackside.  Our staff hold the Railtrack Personal Track Safety accreditation and we also hold approvals for National Grid (Competent Persons) and are CRB checked.

Our utility detection and mapping surveys are level 3 in the 4-step approach that we have adopted to help you manage the risks in your project.  This approach has been independently verified by researchers at Purdue University, USA to save you over 4 times the cost of the utility survey itself on your project (http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/programadmin/pus.cfm)

The cumulative approach to gathering evidence to assist you manage the risk of your project is a unique innovation by Adien in the UK.

We are the only UK utility mapping and detection company who operate this methodology and who have adopted internally the use of vacuum excavation in order to undertake the Level 4 surveys.  “Daylighting” (the physical exposure of the utility) is the only technique to offer you 100% accuracy on utility positioning.  Vacuum excavation is also a much safer proposal to any other manual excavation exercise.
